AKAP LLC is a growing general contracting and property maintenance company seeking an experienced Drywall & Painting Technician for residential and commercial repair work. This is not an entry-level position. We are looking for someone who can independently complete professional drywall repairs and interior/exterior painting without needing to be trained on the basics. What You Must Be Able to Do Drywall • Repair small and large drywall holes • Cut out and replace damaged drywall • Install drywall and properly secure patches • Tape and mud seams and repairs • Apply multiple coats of joint compound as needed • Feather repairs so patches are not visible after painting • Match existing wall and ceiling textures • Repair ceiling drywall • Repair water-damaged drywall after the source has been corrected • Sand and prepare repairs for paint • Produce a clean, professional finished surface Painting • Properly prepare walls, ceilings, trim, and other surfaces • Match existing paint colors and finishes • Prime repaired or stained areas correctly • Paint walls and ceilings without flashing, roller marks, or visible repair areas • Cut clean lines around ceilings, trim, doors, cabinets, and fixtures • Paint baseboards, doors, trim, and other finished surfaces • Perform interior and exterior touch-ups and repainting • Protect flooring, furniture, cabinets, countertops, and surrounding areas • Leave the jobsite clean when work is completed We Are Looking for Someone Who • Has professional drywall AND painting experience • Can complete repairs independently from start to finish • Understands that a drywall repair is not complete if the patch or texture is still visible • Takes pride in finish quality • Can accurately assess what materials are needed before beginning a job • Works efficiently without sacrificing quality • Keeps jobsites clean and organized • Communicates professionally with customers, tenants, property managers, and our office • Can take before, during, and after photos of work • Can follow written work orders and document completed repairs • Is dependable and shows up when scheduled • Has reliable transportation and a valid driver's license IMPORTANT – Skills Verification Applicants should only apply if they are genuinely proficient in both drywall repair and painting. Qualified applicants may be required to complete a paid hands-on skills assessment before being hired. The assessment may include: • Drywall patching • Taping and mudding • Feathering • Texture matching • Surface preparation • Cutting-in • Rolling • Paint finishing We are specifically looking for someone whose finished drywall repair cannot be easily identified once the repair is painted.
