Estate Groundskeeper / Ranch Hand Location: Austin, Texas Position: Full-Time Schedule: Approximately 40 hours per week, with occasional flexibility as property needs require Compensation: Competitive, based on experience Position Overview A private residence in Austin, Texas is seeking a reliable, hardworking, and experienced Estate Groundskeeper / Ranch Hand to oversee the day-to-day care and maintenance of the property’s outdoor areas, grounds, landscaping, pool, gardens, and chicken coop. This is a hands-on, year-round position for someone who takes pride in maintaining a property to a high standard. The ideal candidate is proactive, trustworthy, organized, mechanically inclined, and comfortable working independently. Rather than waiting to be directed toward every task, this individual should routinely inspect the property, identify maintenance needs, and address them before they become larger problems. The position requires someone who can handle a broad range of outdoor responsibilities while coordinating with specialized vendors when necessary. Primary Responsibilities Grounds & Landscaping Maintain lawns, landscaping, flower beds, trees, shrubs, and other planted areas. Mow, edge, trim, weed, mulch, prune, and perform general landscape maintenance. Monitor the health and appearance of landscaping and identify issues requiring attention. Maintain outdoor areas in a consistently clean, orderly, and well-presented condition. Remove leaves, branches, debris, and other waste from the property. Assist with seasonal planting and landscaping projects. Monitor irrigation systems and make basic adjustments or repairs when appropriate. Coordinate with landscaping, tree-care, irrigation, pest-control, and other specialized vendors when needed. Gardening Maintain vegetable, herb, flower, and other garden areas. Plant, water, weed, fertilize, prune, and harvest as appropriate. Monitor plants for pests, disease, irrigation issues, and seasonal needs. Help develop and maintain a productive, attractive garden throughout the year. Pool & Outdoor Areas Perform routine pool maintenance, including cleaning, skimming, brushing, and monitoring water condition. Check pool equipment and identify maintenance or repair needs. Maintain pool deck, patios, walkways, outdoor furniture, and surrounding areas. Coordinate professional pool service or repairs when work requires a licensed or specialized technician. Chicken Coop & Animal Areas Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of the chicken coop and surrounding areas. Provide feed and fresh water and assist with the daily care of chickens. Collect eggs as needed. Monitor fencing, gates, feeders, water systems, and enclosures. Observe animals for unusual behavior or potential health concerns and promptly communicate any issues. Property Maintenance Conduct regular walkthroughs of the exterior property to identify maintenance needs. Perform basic handyman work and minor repairs within the candidate’s abilities. Maintain fences, gates, pathways, drainage areas, outdoor fixtures, and other exterior property features. Pressure wash and clean exterior surfaces as necessary. Assist with storm preparation and post-storm cleanup. Identify water leaks, irrigation problems, damaged fencing, fallen branches, pest issues, and other property concerns. Coordinate outside contractors for work requiring specialized expertise. Tools, Equipment & Supplies Safely operate and maintain landscaping and property equipment such as lawn mowers, trimmers, blowers, pressure washers, hand tools, and related equipment. Keep tools, equipment, storage areas, and workspaces clean and organized. Monitor fuel, feed, fertilizer, pool supplies, landscaping materials, and other routinely used supplies.
