Job Title: General Laborer Baggage Porter (3rd Shift) Job Description This full-time baggage porter role supports baggage handling operations in a fast-paced airport terminal environment. You will supervise and work alongside a team of baggage porters and laborers to ensure luggage is safely loaded, unloaded, routed, and accurately tracked throughout the shift. The position requires strong leadership, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain productivity and operational accuracy in a demanding, deadline-driven setting. Responsibilities • Ensure luggage is properly loaded and unloaded between conveyor systems and U-Boat platform trucks. • Verify that baggage is accurately routed to designated loading and unloading locations. • Monitor baggage flow to prevent operational delays and bottlenecks. • Ensure employees accurately record baggage information and tracking numbers on inventory sheets. • Maintain accurate inventory records and documentation throughout the shift. • Conduct inventory reconciliation and ensure all baggage is accounted for before shift completion. • Communicate operational updates, safety concerns, and workforce issues to leadership. • Coach, mentor, and motivate team members to meet performance and attendance expectations. • Enforce company policies, procedures, and workplace safety standards. • Assist with resolving operational issues and employee concerns as they arise. • Load and unload baggage and equipment safely and efficiently. • Stack and unstack baggage in an organized and secure manner. • Complete safety checklists accurately and on time. • Read and interpret load sheets to ensure correct handling and routing of baggage. • Support housekeeping and general labor tasks to keep work areas clean and organized. • Work consistently in a fast-paced environment while handling up to 600 bags per shift. Essential Skills • Strong communication skills to effectively coordinate with team members and leadership. • Proven ability to drive productivity while maintaining operational accuracy and safety. • Experience with loading and unloading bags and materials. • Ability to stack and unstack baggage safely and efficiently. • Ability to complete safety checklists accurately. • Ability to read and interpret load sheets. • Capability to stand and walk for up to 10 hours per shift. • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds consistently throughout the shift. • Ability to work in a fast-paced operational environment handling high baggage volumes. • Willingness and ability to work evenings, nights, weekends, and overtime as required. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience with inventory tracking and maintaining accurate records. • Experience in general labor, housekeeping, janitorial, construction, or production environments. • Comfort working with conveyor systems and baggage handling equipment. • Strong attention to detail to ensure every piece of luggage is properly tracked and accounted for. • Ability to coach and motivate teams to meet performance and attendance expectations. • Comfort performing repetitive physical tasks such as lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling baggage and equipment. • Reliability in maintaining consistent attendance and punctuality for 3rd shift work.
